Sample barcodes that have been reported to be Insufficient Volume had less than 200 microliters of saliva in the collection tube. The lab uses all available saliva from an Insufficient Volume sample and includes it in its pool’s test. Even though the insufficient sample was included in its pool test, please be advised that insufficient volume samples may not share the same result confidence as the other samples in its pool.

Our pool testing method requires 1 mL of saliva to be collected from each individual being tested in a pool and to perform any additional pool or individual diagnostic tests.

Our sample collection tubes are 2 mL in size. To provide the required 1 mL, fill the sample collection tube at least half full with saliva. Please note that not all sample collection tubes have volume graduations, so it is a best practice to fill the sample collection tube more than half full to ensure that there is the required 1 mL of saliva for testing and retesting.

If there are bubbles in the collection tube produced during saliva self-collection, please wait until the bubbles settle to confirm that there is a minimum sample volume is of 1 mL, or more than half filled.

Please review the attached saliva self-collection instructions and share with your testing community.
